Ambiguous pronoun SAT-ACT-EST

Ambiguous is un clear pronoun reference , some times it is called pronoun clarity

Example: Tom and Adam were late to the party, so they decided to take his car.

the previous example seems awkward, especially when you notice the word his, while we have two persons.

Tom and Adam are both boys and you can refer to anyone of them by the word his.

so his refer to who? you can not decide. that is the ambiguous pronoun ( unclear pronoun or pronoun clarity).
